China’s cityscapes have been drastically modernized in the past two decades but such local streets are still ubiquitous, especially in smaller cities. Compared to #Guangzhou, where I did my undergraduate and worked, my hometown #Nanchang has kept more local flavors. Part of my second novel BEAUTIFUL AS YESTERDAY is set in #Nanchang, “the city of heroes” #英雄城，as it’s called in China because of its revolutionary history.
